3 Things You Can Do For A Bed Bug Free Summer Vacation
The lazy summer season lets us stay in the bed more than were used to. And this means, the more were on the mattress, the more were likely to clean it less.
Doing less maintenance is a recipe for inviting bed bugs on to our bed. Bed bugs cause physical harm. They bite and irritate the skin, when the infestation is too much. Moreover, they also cause emotional distress, affecting our quality of sleep. And these days, bed bugs distribute easily, we have to be careful and alert about these pests creeping up our mattresses, sofa seaters and other things inside the house.
Here are three things you can do to avoid inviting bed bugs into your house this summer:
1. Continue to do your routine of cleaning after your bed and the bedroom. This is important especially if you have children in the house. We know its summer and the kids are probably in their rooms all the time. All the more reason to remind them to make their beds regularly. An unkept bed is a haven for bed bugs, so are other pieces in the house like carpeting and upholstered furniture. Vacuuming gets the job done faster and in the summer, when there are plenty of people actively roaming the house, you have to clean more often.
2. Summers mean going on a vacation. It could be a short weekend trip just a few miles away from home, or a long pleasure trip off another state or country. Traveling is one of the fastest way bed bugs can be transported. And you can avoid this by making sure that you keep your stuff and luggage safely bed bug free. Inspect the rooms you check in to for bed bugs, including the cabinets. And once you return home, clean your luggage outside first before bringing it into the house, just to be sure you dont bring any pests in there.
3. Regularly wash sheets and other bedding. This also prevents bed bugs from creeping and spreading. Fresh sheets are also lovelier to sleep on, so who wouldnt want that?
