Community Gardens Across NYC Transferred To Neighborhood Locals

New York City is one step closer to being the green oasis envisioned by environmental activists.
After saving 69 gardens across the five boroughs from becoming parking lots and abandoned spaces, the NYC Trust for Public Land officially acquired the first 32 gardens Monday.
The group will turn over the largest network of community patches in the nation to two local nonprofits Tuesday in a celebration in Carver Garden in East Harlem.
